Music to my Ears!
Vanguard to Launch their New Season at the 52nd Parade of Champions
On Saturday October 9th, 2021 you will experience the Full Corps!
At last the Parade is back and we are all happy about it! Santa Clara Parade of Champions is working on their line up and so far we have 85 groups signed up to celebrate our 2021 Community and Front line Heroes--almost as large as the 2019 parade. There are 20ft balloons, Floats, Equestrian Color Guard, Multicultural groups, Spirit of 45, six marching bands and of course SCV will be performing in the parade's grand finale!
The Santa Clara Vanguard (SCV) Drum & Bugle Corps that was established in 1967 in Santa Clara, California and has deep roots and a long history of excellence in our community. The entire SCV organization strives to create a positive atmosphere where young people can grow and mature into responsible young adults; succeeding both as individuals and as members of a tightly woven group. Over the years, the Santa Clara Vanguard has developed a long-standing reputation for dignity and excellence.
SCV has the distinction of being the only organization to be a finalist in Drum Corps International (DCI) World Championships since the inception of DCI in 1972. The first organization in Drum Corps International (DCI) history to have a World Class and Open Class Champion; along with being the first organization to have a World Class and Open Class (formerly Division II) corps in the elite Top 17 (Semifinals) of DCI World Championship competitions. The SCV organization has two competitive drum and bugle corps, the Vanguard and the Vanguard Cadets, the Vanguard Winter Guard, Winter Percussion and Community Arts Program. Santa Clara is proud of what they have achieved.
Leading the launch of the new SCV season is the new Executive Director Jeremy Van Wert, a former SCV A-Corps quad player, Jeremy has remained involved in the drum corps activity as an author, instructor, health and wellness consultant, and volunteer since aging out in 1998. His new Energy and Vision for SCV will make this upcoming year one not to miss especially after these last 18 months of pandemic.
Calling all SCV Fans, bring your chair or reserve a bleacher along the Parade route. We can't wait to celebrate together again on October 9th. There will be a full day of activities from 8 am to 5pm ending with Salsa on the Square. To learn more about how to spend your parade day in downtown Santa Clara go to www.scparadeofchampions.org.
